SUMMARY:Bad Magic & Myles from Home
DESCRIPTION:Vancouver based Modern Alt Rock/Dark R&B band **Bad Magic** is an explosive combination of deep grooves\, thoughtful lyrical content and headbanger approved riffs. Helmed by lead singer and songwriter Eric Novak\, the band has been described as “if Prince could scream\, wrote songs for Arctic Monkeys and grew up going to punk shows”. With a ferocious appetite for connection and living in the moment at their live shows\, the band implores the audience to feel your way through the darkness and get you dancing with your shadow. \nMyles From Home is an offspring from the “classic” era of rock when amps were stacked on amps and the louder you sang\, the harder you rocked. Though the Linden\, Manitoba native channels his inner rock god\, as heard from the songs in his [recordings]\, he does so quietly amongst folk-rock instrumentation. After studying engineering and frontmaning the band Café Racer in Montreal\, Myles is now based in Vancouver\, BC. He released his second album “Reading\, Riting and Rithmetic” in 2019\, a collection of songs about love and math\, which he self-recorded and produced while finishing his masters thesis on an implosion driven launcher. \n

DESCRIPTION:Julie Kim is stand-up comedian and writer. Julie recently toured across North America with Ronny Chieng (The Daily Show with Trevor Noah\, Crazy Rich Asians). She has been featured on national television and radio multiple times (the Winnipeg Comedy Festival\, Just for Laughs Northwest\, the Halifax Comedy Festival\, and much more). She is a gala performer at Just for Laughs in Montreal this year. \nJulie’s been a writer and on-camera talent for CBC’s The Debaters\, Laugh out Loud\, CBC’s Kim’s Convenience (occasionally as a guest in the writer’s room)\, and more. Julie was also a writer for Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings\, Kim’s Convenience) as he hosted The Juno Awards in 2022. Julie’s mission is to spread happiness\, lighten hearts\, and unite through laughter. \nThe Effie Arts Collective is fast becoming recognized as one of the best comedy rooms in Western Canada with a great vibe and great talent. DESCRIPTION:The Freudian Slips Present: Dungeons & Dragons Improv! \nJoin Dungeon Master TJ McCallum and The Freudian Slips in their latest foray into the world of Dungeons & Dragons! Prepare to meet new party of adventurers as they face the challenges the dungeon master – and the dice – has to offer. \nLONG FORM\, EPISODIC D&D IMPROV – This performance will consist of a long form improvised story over the course of the night. Actors will create a fully improvised show based on the narration of the Dungeon Master\, suggestions of the audience\, and roll of the giant d20. This show is episodic in nature\, and is the first in what will be an ongoing series following this party of heroes. \nNo Dungeon & Dragons knowledge required\, but a love of fantasy and comedy is welcomed! \nThe Freudian Slips is the hottest Improvised Comedy Troupe in Kamloops!
