The 13 original songs showcase their musical chemistry through charming songwriting\, skilled vocals\, and polished instrumentals. Sam and Emma (aka The Sound and The Writer) have been collaborating in this band for 3 years\, with an EP and some singles already out\, though it really all started for them as little jam sessions on Friday nights. What began as a hobby turned into a passion project that has helped turn them into better people\, musicians\, and partners. I suppose you could say it’s made them “Better Than Before” (see what I did there?). Now\, on Friday\, October 24th\, 2025\, the duo will perform every song from their new album\, plus an array of other material! \nAs if the night couldn’t get any more magical\, singer/ songwriter Kris Ruston will be there to open up the night. Ruston is a local musician/producer/ composer with a gorgeous sound\, striking lyrics\, and a fresh album of his own out this fall! The result is a gleaming pop artifact which balances dazzling instrumental performances and catchy melodies with deep grooves. Earlier this year\, their self-titled debut album was nominated for a Juno award.  \nBarry Mason Jr. is a Calgary-based guitarist and songwriter who blends indie-rock with jazz\, neo-soul\, funk\, and folk influences. Known for his warm tones and emotive live shows\, Barry’s music explores love\, loss\, and the complexity of relationships\, often with a balance of energetic theatrics\, vulnerability\, and musical risk-taking.\n \nJared Doherty is a musician based out of the desert city of “Kamloops” BC Canada. Jared writes impressionistic\, and sometimes character-driven songs exploring themes of nature\, isolation\, modern life and relationships\, and mental health. Often performing as singer and guitarist in art rock band Mother Sun\, Jared records solo music at home borrowing freely from indie rock\, folk\, dream pop\, jazz and psychedelia.
