DESCRIPTION:“Hamm is a commanding presence and with his theremin he creates a swirling\, ethereal soundtrack of the cosmos.” – Mike Usinger \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/stephen-hamm-the-theremin-man-live-at-the-effie-kamloops-tickets-887272083687 \nDoors 7pm Show 7:30pm \n$15+ eventbrite fees in advance $20 at the door \nLicenced Venue – Minors Allowed accompanied by an Adult \nA legendary member of the Vancouver Music scene for over thirty years\, Stephen Hamm continues a prolific\, adventurous musical career and has become one of Canada’s most unforgettable and beloved performers. Stephen has played in bands like Slow\, Canned Hamm and Nardwuar And The Evaporators. \nA multi instrumentalist\, Stephen Hamm has shifted his focus to mastering the theremin. The theremin is an early electronic instrument that is touchless: a thereminist interacts with magnetic fields around the two antennae on a theremin rather than actually touching the instrument. Stephen has been thrilling audiences at clubs and festivals with his wildly creative solo show based around theremin and synthesizer and has been taking them on an electro musical journey into new abstract dimensions of sound! \nTICKETS: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/stephen-hamm-the-theremin-man-live-at-the-effie-kamloops-tickets-887272083687

SUMMARY:Daniel Champagne Live at The Effie
DESCRIPTION:April 4th 2024 BOTH SHOWS SOLD OUT!\n \n EARLY SHOW: Doors 5:30pm Music 6pm. SOLD OUT\n \nLATE SHOW: Doors 7:30pm Music 8pm. SOLD OUT \nAll Ages Event. \nDaniel Champagne lives and breathes live music. The Australian virtuoso has been described as “the finest guitar player of this generation”\, “a leading light in acoustic music” and “a performer that must be seen to be believed” and from March to June 2024\, music lovers across Canada will be treated to an intimate live experience not to be missed! \nGrowing up in the Bega Valley\, on the Far South Coast of New South Wales Australia\, the story goes that the young singer-songwriter and one of a kind guitar virtuoso first picked up his instrument of choice as a 5-year-old following in the footsteps of a musical father. He began writing songs at 12\, training classically throughout his teens and performing wherever he could\, honing his craft and developing the dynamite live show that he is renowned for today. At 18 he finished school\, turned professional and hit the road without looking back. \nThe following 15 years have seen him independently release 7 studio albums\, tour relentlessly around the globe\, play some of the biggest festivals under the sun and share stages with the likes of Tommy Emmanuel\, INXS\, John Butler\, Lucinda Williams\, Ani DiFranco\, Judy Collins and Rodrigo y Gabriela. \nPlaying upwards of 250 shows a year\, Daniel is passionate about spreading live music around the world and on the back of a sold out 2022 tour tour\, his return trip will include 56 shows from Vancouver Island all the way out to Newfoundland! \nWHAT THE PRESS SAY.. \n“The word Prodigy seems to entirely fall short of this soft-spoken young man’s skills\, he coaxes sounds and melodies out of his instrument that literally drop jaws.” The Calgary Herald\, CANADA \n“Today I saw the future of Folk – Festival goers flocking in the thousands towards the main stage to witness a young musical phenomenon from Australia dish out an absolute show-stopper.” The Firefly Column\, USA \n“Daniel Champagne is a crossroads. Fusing the strong traditions of Blues\, Folk and other roots art with pop showmanship and admirable lyrical ability. I firmly believe that he will become an ambassador for roots music in a time where it desperately needs representation.” The Indie Blender\, CANADA \n“reinventing roots guitar” Rhythms Magazine\, AUSTRALIA \n“Watching Daniel Champagne perform is a once in a lifetime experience. He is a true prodigy that plays like no one else could possibly play unless they spent at least two lifetimes studying the art.” BW Review\, NEW ZEALAND \n“Daniel Champagne exudes a natural ease on stage\, as he sings poignant lyrics and beautifully crafted melodies that invariably whisk the heart up with grand romanticism. Coupled with an exhilarating guitar talent that transcends mere acoustic playing to replicate a whole band\, Champagne is just magical” Themusic.com.au\, AUSTRALIA \n“You feel as if he just invented the instrument yesterday and was discovering its possibilities afresh” Ted Gioia (American jazz critic and music historian) \nBOTH SHOWS SOLD OUT

SUMMARY:Flowshine with The Houses Where We Grew Up
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/849939420687 \nFlowshine with The Houses (WWGU) at The Effie – Kamloops\nDoors 630pm\nShow 7- 10pm \nMinors allowed accompained by an Adult\nLicensed Venue \nJoin us for a night of Flowshine with the incredible band The Houses (Where We Grew Up) and special guests Jade the Babe at The Effie Arts Collective in Kamloops! Get ready to groove to their amazing tunes and enjoy a fantastic live music experience. \nFlowshine has spent the last decade carving their own path a little left of centre. Their love of adventure\, experience\, and bringing people together with music has taken them from their home in Calgary to oft overlooked corners of the country. Their openness to experimentation and desire to make something wondrous has left their peers unsure of how to characterize their brand of hooky indie/alternative. Their songs demonstrate strong musicianship\, relatable storytelling\, and often feature musical guests lending their signature to the Flowshine whole. Guitarist and vocalist Jeremiah Erhardt has said\, “We want our music to be fun and emotive; we want people to jump in our canoe and let us guide them down the river\, showing them things they’ve never experienced.” \nThey have been cutting their teeth\, sharing stages with bands like Five Alarm Funk\, The Wooden Sky\, and Chilliwack. They have spent thousands of hours in a van and have performed in an eclectic and extensive list of pubs\, clubs\, campfires\, farm fields\, cafes\, basements\, community centres\, festival stages\, street corners\, and the like; from Dawson City\, Yukon to the heart of Halifax\, NS. \nThe Houses (Where We Grew Up) are timeless like lawn darts\, hopeless like -insert local sports club here- and heavenly like the roof of the Sistine Chapel\, riding out on a horse in a star-spangled rodeo like a rhinestone cowboy. \nWith interests ranging from the 2013 science fiction film Cowboys vs Aliens to Vanilla Ice (cream)\, their sound is described by some as definitely audible. And if there is one thing a cowboy knows\, it’s jazz. \nA drummer who hits the drums like he’s trying to kill all the bugs crawling on his kit and a guitarist who caresses his guitar like a man who’s never experienced the touch of a woman\, these two rad dudes are somehow both cool and rude at the same time. Amazing! \nHolding the title for the “Longest Rock Record by a Kamloops Duo”\, they are simplicity juxtaposed with chaos\, anarchy with balladry\, the quiet and the calamity\, the Rob and the Sean\, The Houses (Where We Grew Up). \nTICKETS: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/849939420687

They created an\nimage and sound that are both universally relatable and accessible. The\nStonefruits put in a lot of dedication and work to be where they are today. In the short amount of time they’ve been together\, they’ve played countless shows throughout Southern BC and Alberta Including local events such as Brewloops\, Summer league and BC culture days. Their genre-bending music\, and high energetic performances allowed them to form a loving and genuine fan base.\nTwin brothers Quinton and Tyler Armstrong accompanied by good friend Jesse Morrison formed the band in a basement summer of 2021. When they paired well-thought-out riffs and song structures with\nmelancholy vocals\, the trio realized how potent a product their music could be.\nThat’s when a batch of songs were born that turned into the “Pine street EP”. The band released their second EP ‘Stygian’ March 31 2023. Both EP’s were recorded at Holy Cow Studio live off the floor in their hometown. As a band they chose the ‘live off the floor’ approach to give the listener a seamless experience\, from listening at home to throwing down at a show.\nThis year has been big for them\, with non stop gigging and finishing up another EP in the studio. They plan on expanding their knowledge in the music industry\, and have no plan on slowing down with touring\, studio time\, and music releases.\n\nAutonomous Apes\nVancouver Grunge\nhttps://open.spotify.com/artist/3BHMwta7XjfnRSM6hOoC5x…\n\nCarole\nKamloops garage-folk\nFIRST SHOW! -lets make it a good one\n\n\n\nTICKETS:\nhttps://www.eventbrite.ca/e/743349156337

SUMMARY:Myles from Home w/ James Blonde and RETROFILE
DESCRIPTION:Get ready for an epic show on October 27\, 2023 when Myles from Home returns to Kamloops with pals James Blonde and Retrofile\n  \nDoors 7pm Music 8pm – All Ages – $10+fees in advance – $15 at the door \nTICKETS: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/myles-from-home-w-james-blonde-and-retrofile-live-at-the-effie-tickets-721046739207 \nMyles from Home\n“Myles from Home is an offspring from the “classic” era of rock\, when amps were stacked on amps and the louder you sang\, the harder you rocked. Though the Linden\, Manitoba native channels his inner rock god\, he does so quietly at times\, amongst folk-rock instrumentation.” -Gray Owl Point. Often found outside naked (his friends call him Beach Santa)\, Myles enjoys singing\, playing guitar and harmonica and splits his time between measuring neutrons from nuclear fusion experiments and singing songs about love. He’s joined by a rhythm section that keeps it funky and the sound of their three piece could be described as folk rock going on a successful first date with jazz funk. \nJames Blonde\n“So which one of you is James Blonde?”\, we get this question all the time. The answer is quite simple: ALL THREE of us! Phil\, Steph & Neil comprise the entity that is James Blonde. These multi talented men have been writing bad jokes and great music together forming the band you know as James Blonde. Making their grand entrance onto the music scene in their hometown of Niagara Falls on NYE 2017\, with their first concert as James Blonde\, they opened for Sam Roberts Band and Serena Ryder. Following their full length self-titled release in 2017\, the lead single “Heartbreak” was picked up by major Spotify playlists and Starbucks\, adding the song to its in-store radio across the globe. “Sh!tshow”\, the bands follow-up single in 2019\, reached #96 on the US Top 40 chart. \nRETROFILE\nBy combining the melody driven hooks of 80s pop\, the rhythmic pulse of disco and the guitar/synth interplay of 00’s rock\, RETROFILE burst onto the alternative music scene in 2017 with the release of their debut single Two Words. Recorded in twin brothers Luke and Noah Martino’s makeshift studio\, the single became a suprise word of mouth sensation\, garnering hundreds of thousands of streams within months of release and kickstarting their career. In 2019\, with a wave of sold out live shows under their belts and an enthusiastic fan base backing them\, RETROFILE released their debut EP Heard It All Before. Spawning two successful singles (Running and Heard It All Before)\, the EP saw the twins invigorate their sound and look with a blend of new wave and modern pop sensibilities. Although the global pandemic halted their live performance ambitions\, RETROFILE took the downtime as chance to write and perfect material for their next EP “Lost In Sound” (out September 14 2023). RETROFILE were selected as a showcase act for Canadian Music Week 2023 and will be touring the UK + Western Canada to promote the “Lost In Sound” EP. \nTICKETS: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/myles-from-home-w-james-blonde-and-retrofile-live-at-the-effie-tickets-721046739207

SUMMARY:Jordan Klassen and David Vertesi - Margins Tour
DESCRIPTION:Internationally acclaimed singer/songwriters Jordan Klassen and David Vertesi (of Hey Ocean!) bring their Margins Tour to Kamloops at The Effie Arts Collective on Sunday October 15th.\nTickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door (general admission)\nStudents: $15 advance or $20 at the door (with valid Student ID)\n\nTICKETS:\nhttps://www.eventbrite.ca/e/699449772097\n\nAbout Jordan Klassen\nJordan Klassen’s seventh album\, Glossolalia\, which was released in 2022 and recorded during the pandemic without a large studio or much fuss\, could probably best be described as a blessing in disguise. The singer songwriter and producer from Vancouver mostly withdrew in order to write and record\, composing the album with mostly vocals and guitar\, creating a subtly blossoming collection of songs that perhaps nailed his “fairy folk for troubled times” approach better than ever before. Klassen seemingly tapped into a new creative well\, as Glossolalia was only the first half of the material written and recorded in this period. “Cocoon” is the first taste from this forthcoming sisterly companion. More details and new music are to follow.\n\nAbout David Vertesi\nA multi-faceted artist\, David Vertesi is best known as the bassist with the popular Canadian pop group Hey Ocean!\, but he has also collaborated with a wide range of other artists and established himself as a promising singer and songwriter with a burgeoning solo career. A native of Vancouver\, Vertesi developed an interest in music when he was young and began writing songs when he was 13 years old. His big break came when he saw singer Ashleigh Ball and guitarist David Beckingham playing a club show\, and told the duo he was just the man to play bass for them. Ball and Beckingham decided to give Vertesi a try\, and Hey Ocean! was born. Incorporating witty lyrics with light funk and Caribbean rhythms\, Hey Ocean! slowly but surely developed a mass following in Canada\, releasing their albums — 2006’s Stop Looking Like Music and 2009’s It’s Easier to Be Somebody Else — through their own Pop Machine label. As Hey Ocean! became increasingly successful\, Vertesi began branching out and working with a number of promising artists\, including hip-hop artist Shad K.\, indie pop vocalist Hannah Georgas\, and Jose Miguel Contreras of the group By Divine Right. Vertesi also began performing with the over-the-top electronics meets garage-pop band Topless Gay Love Tekno Party. But in 2010\, he took a break from the lighthearted music that had been his trademark and focused on more personal concerns as he recorded his first solo effort. 2010’s Cardiography was a witty but emotionally potent set of songs about the upsides and downsides of relationships; produced by Vertesi and Contreras\, the album received strong reviews and Vertesi played a number of solo shows in support as his schedule with Hey Ocean! permitted. Lead \nvocal duties are shared between Mihilewicz and Dozlaw\, with everyone \ncontributing background vocals. \nHaving self-produced two EP’s: Oscar’s Hollow (2018) and Now Playing (2019)\, \nthe band is currently developing new music with the recording of a full-length \nalbum on the horizon. SUMMARY:SPENDO & THE VIDOS LIVE AT THE EFFIE
DESCRIPTION:Two of Vancouver’s most popular upcoming bands SPENDO & THE VIDOS team up for a diverse night of rock n roll \nDOORS 7PM \nTOMMY CARSON 730 \nTHE VIDOS 830 \nSPENDO 945 \nSPENDO\nBased out of Vancouver BC\, Spendo is made up of five like-hearted\, experienced multi-instrumentalists. Sharing a love for modern & classic rock\, they exude a 1970’s California vibe\, drawing inspiration from and paying respect to the music of that timeless era. \nIn 2022\, Spendo ventured into “The Great Unknown”\, turning heads with their well-received single “Fighter\,” followed recently by their second single “Easy to Lie”\, both of which were recorded with legendary Canadian producer Danny Craig (Default\, One Bad Son) who also produced their second EP “The Great Unknown” released March 11th 2023. \nThe band’s powerful live performance has led them to many sold out hometown shows. They’ve also landed on some big stages\, rubbing elbows with Canadian Rock Royalty (PRISM\, 54-40\, and Daniel Wesley). They were also crowned “Best In Vancouver” 2022. These five fine gentlemen have been itching to show the world what they’re capable of\, and their long and fruitful journey is only just beginning. \n“I believe they have what it takes to get to the next level. They are great people\, they have a kick ass show and I believe they’re going places.” -Mike Fraser AC/DC\, AEROSMITH \n“If you are looking for a band that rocks hard – That plays laid back funky grooves as well as heavy blues based grooves – with killer harmonies-\, this is the band for you !! The world is in need of a band like Spendo !!!” -Danny Miranda BLUE OYSTER CULT \nTHE VIDOS\nThe Vidos (rhymes with “Speedos”) are three gringos from British Columbia\, Canada with an affinity for pop hooks\, creative drumming\, and stacked harmonies — and fuzz on all of ‘em. They started making music together in high school\, cracking the Top 40 in Canadian Active Rock with their songs “Car Trouble” and “Perfect Stranger”. \nAlongside longtime producer Danny Craig\, The Vidos have arrived at a sound playfully described as “sludge pop” and look forward to releasing a collection of brand new material fitting that description in 2023. \nPrior to March 2020\, the boys had toured the country nine times in the span of 3 and a half years\, including a “hellish” 7-month stint living on their tour bus in Toronto in an effort to demolish their comfort zone and perform on a nightly basis. Known for their witty lyrics and onstage banter\, The Vidos have gradually cultivated their live show into an immersive\, genre-bending\, fourth-wall-shattering performance and have become one of Canada’s most promising and unpredictable groups in the process. \nTheir debut record “Right in the Kisser!” is out everywhere now! \nTICKETS:  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/spendo-the-vidos-live-at-the-effie-arts-collective-tickets-612563693497
