SUMMARY:Layten Kramer and Brandon Wolfe Scott
DESCRIPTION:Minors Allowed Accompanied by an Adult \nTICKETS: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/1013803362147 \nDoors 7:00pm Show 7:30 \nBrandon Wolfe Scott is a singer-songwriter based in Vancouver\, Canada\, best known as the guitarist and co-songwriter in the JUNO Award-nominated indie rock group Yukon Blonde. The band released their sixth full-length album\, Shuggie\, on October 12\, 2023\, and concluded an East Coast Canadian tour in the same month. When not busy with the band\, Brandon is working on his solo endeavours. \nOn February 9\, 2024\, he’ll share his new solo single\, “Sun Shadows.” The song emerged last summer when he accompanied his partner on a work trip to Northern BC and returned to the small mill town of his childhood after nearly a decade. So many things had changed in his life since\, and he was interested to see the real elements of his nostalgic memories. Eager to share his roots with his partner\, the couple transformed the journey into a road trip and a quasi-songwriting retreat. \nHowever\, with their dog in tow\, lodging options were limited\, leading them to a worn-out motel frequented by a transient crowd. The envisioned tranquil space for creativity transformed into a stark reflection of daily struggles outside our window. “Witnessing poverty and addiction in northern BC left me disheartened and resentful toward the political climate perpetuating these issues\,” says Brandon. “Since then\, I have often asked myself\, how can I put kindness into the world?” A daunting task amidst the ongoing turmoil.” \nBrandon continues\, “Lyrically\, this song was inspired by the surroundings in which I originally recorded\, being in that rundown motel room close to where I grew up\, surrounded by people going through hardship\, but it also has much bigger connotations linking hardships to those being faced globally.” It served as a reminder for him to acknowledge his privilege\, being able to seclude himself in a room all day crafting music—an opportunity he should always appreciate and never overlook. \n“Sun Shadows” is the first new music from Brandon since he released his self-produced third EP\, Slow Transmission\, on March 23\, 2023\, via Dine Alone Records. The album featured five original songs\, including “Fade Out” and “In Stride.” The new music garnered support from various platforms such as SiriusXM’s “North Americana\,” CBC Radio 3\, Georgia Straight\, Afterdark on CBC Music\, Americana UK\, PhotogMusic\, Red Guitar Music\, Alan Cross’ “5 Songs You Must Hear\,” CBC Radio One\, CBC q\, Eat North\, CFMU’s “I Heart Hamilton\,” CoveFM’s “When We Wake\,” Exclaim\, and many more. \nHis 2020 Sophomore EP\, Burden On Your Shoulders (Dine Alone Records)\, gained him nationwide recognition and cemented him in the public eye as a talented songwriter\, engineer\, and producer. Notable collaborations include co-writing and producing with STACEY on her debut album\, Saturn Returns (2021). \nIn October 2014\, Layten Kramer released his first EP Through The Days\, after spending a long winter in the Pacific Northwest. The EP featured acclaimed song Sea of Glass that was put into rotation on CBC Radio 2. Shortly thereafter Kramer embarked on a tour across Western Canada where he and his bandmates cut their teeth on the road. Both his EP and the tour were well received garnering acclaim within the Canadian music sphere\, including the JUNO Awards\, Ride The Tempo\, and Digital Journal. \nIn April 2016\, Kramer released his first full-length LP collaborating with JUNO Award Winning Producer and dear friend Colin Stewart (Dan Mangan\, Yukon Blonde\, Sleepy Sun). Featured on the record were also the musical styling’s of Kathryn Calder of The New Pornographers and Geoff Hillhorst of The Deep Dark Woods. For the Sun\, embodies a change in direction taking Kramer’s recognized folk sound and adding experimental song structure and lush\, psychedelic soundscapes\, all the while maintaining intriguing lyrics and catchy\, clever hooks. This release was followed up by two very successful tours in the west and the signing to Oscar Street Records. \nKramer’s most recent release ‘Glory’ (2018) is a haunting collection of songs that explore the perspective of individuals\, both internally and externally\, when exposed to the reality of heartbreak and mental illness. “The time we spend learning and struggling with who we are and who the people are around us often amounts to a valuable lesson\,” says Kramer\, “and what we find at the end of each lesson is a little bit of glory. The collection of songs is intended to highlight the incredible resilience each and every person has in my life.” Paired with stunning instrumentation and clever arrangements\, Kramer’s recognized psychedelic-folk sound has transcended into a gritty acid-western aesthetic. \n‘Dear Apathy\,’ illustrates the genuine growth in Kramer’s unmistakable songwriting and arranging. Released April 16\, 2021\, the 9 songs explore the stark contrast of Kramer’s inner vision with the external perspective and pressures of their surroundings. \n  \nTICKETS: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/1013803362147

SUMMARY:The Prairie Joggers with The Bunchgrass Boys
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/1034156147877 \nDoors 6:30 Show 7:00pm \nMinors allowed accompanied by an adult \n$15 advance $20 at the door plus fees and taxes \nBlending warm electric guitar\, raw vocals and dampened drums\, The Prairie Joggers form a thick vintage sound that cushions their bleak but not entirely hopeless lyrical themes. What the band lacks in bells and whistles they make up for with a sincere sense of nostalgia that agrees with their charismatic live performances and minimalistic approach to instrumentals. \nThe Bunchgrass Boys play upbeat traditional and contemporary bluegrass music. Anyone who likes clean acoustic instrumentation and vocal harmonies will enjoy listening to this band\, and singing along if you like. The songs of Bill Monroe\, the Stanley Brothers\, and Flatt and Scruggs and more modern “bluegrassers” are included in their performances. Our name reflects the wonderful area around Kamloops where we live\, and the abundant native bunchgrass that made Kamloops a true ranching town \nTICKETS: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/1034156147877
